Postdoctoral Research Associate in Protein Engineering
Join Professor Ashley Toye’s group to advance protein engineering and red blood cell biology in a collaborative feasibility study.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, or protein engineering and hands-on experience in recombinant DNA methods, protein purification, and experimental design.
Overview
This postdoctoral position at the University of Bristol focuses on protein engineering and red blood cell biology. The successful candidate will design, produce, and characterize recombinant proteins, investigating their interactions with red blood cells. The work spans molecular cloning, bacterial and mammalian protein expression, chromatography, biochemical assays, flow cytometry, and microfluidics. The role is part of a collaborative feasibility study funded by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and involves planning experiments, data analysis, and project reporting. The position is ideal for researchers with a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, or protein engineering who are eager to contribute to cutting-edge interdisciplinary research.
What you'll do
- Design and produce recombinant proteins for experimental analysis.
- Conduct molecular cloning, bacterial and mammalian protein expression, and protein purification.
