Overview

Ghent University invites applications for a 4-year PhD researcher position within the Mechanics of Materials and Structures research group. The project investigates the engagement mechanics, structural behavior, and long-term creep performance of complex industrial snap-fit joints used in automotive, construction, and consumer goods. Funded by Flanders Make, the research involves close collaboration with industrial partners and academic institutions like KU Leuven. The successful candidate will employ cutting-edge instrumentation such as Digital Image Correlation (DIC) and high-speed imaging to analyze mechanical loading paths and environmental aging effects.
