Overview

This fully funded PhD position, hosted by the Net2Zero Centre for Doctoral Training, focuses on the development and evaluation of novel hybrid energy systems. The research integrates gas turbines, carbon capture, biomass gasification, and solar thermal technologies to enable carbon-negative fuel production. The successful candidate will employ thermodynamic modelling, transient simulation, and AI-driven optimisation to enhance grid stability and energy efficiency. This four-year programme includes a three-month industrial or policy placement and access to world-class research facilities across a consortium of UK universities.
