PhD Position F/M Collusion in Agentic Systems
Investigate theoretical game theory and learning models of collusion in multi-agent autonomous systems.
Best for:Best for quantitative graduates with a strong foundation in probability, online learning, and game theory wishing to pursue a PhD.
Overview
Inria Saclay-Île-de-France is offering a 3-year fully funded PhD position within the FairPlay research team, a joint initiative involving Inria, ENSAE, and Criteo. The successful doctoral candidate will perform theoretical analysis on collusion and strategic interactions in agentic systems using game theory and learning theory. The research aims to understand how autonomous agents interact, collaborate, or collude in online environments, drawing parallels to historical algorithmic pricing behaviors. The applicant is expected to conduct independent mathematical research, publish results in top-tier venues, and actively participate in team collaborations.
What you'll do
- Conduct rigorous theoretical research on collusion and multi-agent interactions using game theory and learning theory
- Investigate online learning algorithms and fairness properties in decentralized multi-agent environments
- Document research findings through high-quality academic publications and conference presentations
- Collaborate with permanent researchers and fellow PhD students within the FairPlay joint team across Inria, ENSAE, and Criteo
- Engage in professional development, scientific events, and vocational training opportunities provided by the research center
