Internship: Life Cycle Assessment of Cattle Production Systems
Evaluate greenhouse gas emission hotspots and mitigation strategies for beef and dairy systems in the Massif Central.
Best for:Best for Master's or engineering students in agriculture, environmental science, or life cycle assessment with strong data management skills.
Overview
The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE) is offering a 6-month internship within the Herbivores joint research unit (UMRH) located in Saint-Genès-Champanelle, France. Working alongside the DINAMIC team on the TEROLEA project, the intern will focus on identifying greenhouse gas emission hotspots using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) models for cattle production systems. Responsibilities include processing dataset inputs and outputs, analyzing MEANS In-Out model results across future climate horizons, and assisting with project reporting and scientific communication. The position provides a hands-on opportunity to engage with sustainable agricultural practices and environmental impact analysis in livestock systems.
What you'll do
- Analyze outputs from the MEANS In-Out model to identify key greenhouse gas and environmental impact hotspots across beef and dairy farming systems.
- Support the processing, harmonization, and quality control of input and output datasets between the In-Out model and Life Cycle Assessment frameworks.
- Contribute to the visualization and interpretation of research results into tables and figures across 2030 and 2050 time horizons.
- Communicate data and findings at scientific or professional events such as the Sommet de l'Élevage.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, project documentation, and methodological guidelines.
