PhD Position in Computational Genomics for Chromosomal Abnormality Detection in IVF Embryos
Develop cutting-edge genomic sequencing methods to improve preimplantation genetic diagnosis for chromosomal abnormalities in early-stage IVF embryos.
Best for:Best for recent MSc graduates in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related fields with strong programming skills in R/Python, hands-on genomic data analysis experience, and a passion for translational research in reproductive medicine.
Overview
This PhD position at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) focuses on advancing genomic technologies for diagnosing chromosomal abnormalities in early-stage IVF embryos. The successful candidate will work within the Center for Medical Genetics, a globally recognized leader in reproductive genetics and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGT). The project aims to optimize sequencing-based methods to enhance patient care and maintain a leading role in the field. The PhD candidate will collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment, combining computational biology, bioinformatics, and biomedical sciences to address critical challenges in early embryo diagnostics. The position is based at the Brussels Health Campus (Jette) and offers a fully funded scholarship with opportunities for career development and research collaboration within the EUTOPIA alliance of European universities.
