Doctoral Research Program in Cognitive Design

ISIA Firenze offers a doctoral research program focusing on cognitive design and the integrated evolution of humans and technology in contemporary industrial production. The digitalization and automation of manufacturing have fundamentally shifted the paradigm of human-machine interaction, requiring new models that move beyond traditional separation. The selected researchers will examine mutations in production technologies, IIoT connectivity, and data usage within industrial environments and small artisan workshops. Candidates are expected to adopt a transdisciplinary approach to profile future scenarios of factory work and human-machine cooperation.

• Investigate and identify structural mutations in contemporary industrial production technologies
• Analyze the integration of sensors and IIoT connectivity in relation to human-machine interaction
• Develop multi- and trans-disciplinary design models for future factory environments and artisan workshops
• Collaborate with scientists, software developers, and industry stakeholders to assess emerging technological impacts
• Produce a doctoral thesis detailing future scenarios of work and production methodologies
