Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Systems Biology
Develop machine learning and network models to design neuronal cell conversion protocols for regenerative medicine.
Best for:Best for computational biologists and machine learning researchers with a background in gene networks or systems biology.
Overview
The Computational Biology Group at CIC bioGUNE invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on advanced computational approaches for designing neuronal cell conversion protocols. The successful candidate will build computational platforms combining gene network analysis and machine learning foundational models to identify sequential transcription factor induction protocols. These protocols support the engineering of specialized neuronal subtypes for cell transplantation therapies targeting neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and epilepsy. Funded through a Canadian federal grant project (NFRF), the role involves close collaboration with international experimental partners who will validate predictions. The appointee will operate in a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment focused on stem cell research and biomedical modeling.
What you'll do
- Develop a computational platform to identify hierarchical combinations of cell fate conversion factors.
- Integrate gene network-based approaches with machine learning foundational models to propose sequential transcription factor induction protocols.
- Collaborate with international experimental partners to translate computational predictions into clinical practice.
- Contribute to the theoretical framework for computational modeling in stem cell research, aging, and disease modeling.
- Participate in multidisciplinary research activities and disseminate findings through scientific publications.
