FAroGels DC[6] – Hybrid Aerogel-Microencapsulation for Nutraceutical Stability and Delivery
Develop hybrid biopolymer aerogels for stable and controlled delivery of nutraceuticals within an MSCA doctoral network.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in chemistry, material science, or biotechnology with a strong background in biopolymer formulation and laboratory research.
Overview
This doctoral position is part of the FAroGels research program focusing on food-grade, bio-based, and biodegradable aerogels for sustainable food systems. The successful candidate will be employed by MyBiotech GmbH in Überherrn, Germany, and enrolled as a PhD student at Saarland University. The research centers on designing hybrid biopolymer aerogels using materials such as chitosan, alginate, and xanthan to improve nutraceutical encapsulation, stability, and controlled release. The role involves laboratory-based experimentation, data analysis, active participation in network events, and planned secondments at partner organizations.
What you'll do
- Conduct experimental research on the design, development, and characterisation of hybrid biopolymer aerogels for nutraceutical encapsulation and stabilisation.
- Plan, execute, document, and analyse laboratory experiments utilising relevant analytical, processing, and formulation methods.
- Participate actively in FAroGels network meetings, training schools, workshops, and transferable-skills seminars.
- Undertake planned secondments at international FAroGels partner organisations as outlined in the doctoral project plan.
- Collaborate closely with academic and industrial partners across the interdisciplinary network.
- Prepare comprehensive scientific reports, project deliverables, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
