PhD Position in Adipose Tissue Lipoprotein Clearance
Explore molecular mechanisms of lipoprotein clearance in adipose tissue with cutting-edge genomics and bioimaging.
Best for:Best for motivated candidates with a Master’s in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, or Computational Systems Biology, and hands-on experience in adipose tissue biology, mouse models, and lipid metabolism.
Overview
This PhD position at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) offers an opportunity to investigate the molecular determinants of adipose tissue lipoprotein clearance under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Kim Ravnskjaer. The project integrates human biopsy studies, advanced preclinical models, single-cell transcriptomics, and bioimaging to uncover mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic health. Located in the Functional Genomics & Metabolism Research Unit, the position provides access to state-of-the-art facilities, including flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, and transgenic mouse work. Ideal candidates will contribute to interdisciplinary research aimed at understanding tissue plasticity in obesity and metabolic diseases, with potential collaborations at regional hospitals and international research networks.
What you'll do
- Conduct experimental research on molecular determinants of adipose tissue lipoprotein clearance using advanced preclinical models and human biopsy samples.
- Perform single-cell transcriptomics and bioimaging to analyze tissue-level mechanisms in diet-induced obesity and metabolic regression.
- Collaborate with regional hospitals, including Odense University Hospital, to integrate clinical insights into research.
- Develop and execute research protocols involving gene disruption, cell culture, and mouse physiology experiments.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and skill development in research management and communication.
- Engage in interdisciplinary teamwork within the Functional Genomics & Metabolism Research Unit and broader research networks.
