Postdoctoral Fellow in Sepsis and Renal Physiology
Join interdisciplinary research at Indiana University School of Medicine to explore microbial-host interactions in sepsis and kidney function.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a PhD or MD in molecular biology, microbiology, or nephrology, seeking interdisciplinary training in sepsis, renal physiology, and microbial-host interactions.
Overview
This postdoctoral position at Indiana University School of Medicine invites motivated researchers to contribute to groundbreaking work at the intersection of sepsis, microbiology, molecular biology, and renal physiology. The Hato and Dagher Laboratories leverage the kidney as a model organ to investigate how microbial signals influence tissue function, host responses, and disease pathogenesis. Using advanced techniques like advanced imaging, dual-species sequencing, RNA-based therapeutics, and genome editing, the team fosters a collaborative environment for scientists interested in bridging bacterial physiology with mammalian molecular biology. The role is ideal for candidates with a PhD or MD in molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, nephrology, or related fields, who are eager to explore interdisciplinary research questions and develop expertise across multiple disciplines.
What you'll do
- Conduct cutting-edge research at the intersection of sepsis, microbiology, and renal physiology using advanced imaging and sequencing techniques.
- Develop and implement experimental approaches, including RNA-based therapeutics and genome editing in mammalian and bacterial systems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to explore mechanistic questions bridging bacterial physiology and mammalian molecular biology.
- Contribute to training and mentoring of junior researchers within the laboratory environment.
- Publish findings in high-impact scientific journals and present research at national and international conferences.
- Work independently and as part of a team to advance the understanding of host-microbe relationships in disease pathogenesis.
