PhD in Statistics
Join a collaborative research team to develop advanced statistical methods for functional time series and dynamic network analysis.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong foundation in mathematical statistics, rigorous proof-writing skills, and a passion for developing novel statistical methods.
Overview
Eindhoven University of Technology is seeking a motivated PhD candidate to join the Statistics, Probability and Operations Research (SPOR) cluster. The research focuses on developing theoretical tools and statistical software for analyzing dependence structures in functional time series, with applications in areas like neuroscience and economics. The successful candidate will work on estimating time-varying network structures and detecting structural changes in complex, non-Euclidean data. You will be supervised by Lujia Bai and Jeanine Duistermaat within an interdisciplinary and international research environment. The role involves a balance of research, publication, and teaching responsibilities.
What you'll do
- Conduct theoretical research on dependence structures in functional time series.
- Develop and implement novel statistical methods for time-varying network construction.
- Create statistical software to support the proposed analytical methods.
- Contribute to the detection of structural changes and control of false connections in complex data.
- Publish research findings in high-impact international scientific journals.
- Participate in and present work at international academic conferences.
- Engage in teaching activities for 10% to 15% of the employment duration.
- Develop an independent research profile within the SPOR cluster.
