MSc/PhD in Hydrodynamic Modelling of Quartz Crystal Microbalance Sensors
Fully funded graduate research position investigating transient viscous hydrodynamics for QCM sensors at Technion.
Best for:Best for graduate students with a strong background in fluid mechanics, analytical modelling, and numerical methods.
Overview
The Wolfson Department of Chemical Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology invites applications for an MSc or PhD position focusing on the hydrodynamic modelling of Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation monitoring (QCM-D) sensors. The successful candidate will develop analytical theory and numerical methods to interpret impedance measurements for discrete adsorbates in liquid phases. Working under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Leshansky, this project is conducted in collaboration with an experimental research group in Cracow and supported by the Israel Science Foundation. The researcher will combine advanced graduate studies with rigorous theoretical and numerical investigation.
What you'll do
- Investigate theoretical aspects of transient viscous hydrodynamics caused by discrete adsorbates
- Develop analytical models to accurately interpret QCM impedance measurements
- Perform numerical analysis to complement and validate the analytical theory
- Collaborate with international experimental research partners based in Poland
- Contribute to academic publications and present findings at scientific conferences
Requirements
Degree required: BSc in Applied Mathematics, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a similar field
