Overview

This PhD position focuses on the innovative process of Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) for producing medium to large metallic parts. The research aims to understand the complex physical phenomena involved in AFSD, including heat generation, material flow, and multi-material interface formation. The candidate will work within the ASTRID FALbALA project, collaborating with various institutions to link manufacturing parameters with the mechanical behavior of aluminum alloys. The role involves extensive experimental characterization and modeling to optimize the process and enhance material properties.
