Research Grant in Biological Sciences
Conduct doctoral research on green extraction of phenolic compounds and their application in human health at the Polytechnic University of Bragança.
Best for:Best for doctoral students in biological sciences with experience in natural product extraction, chemical analysis, and R programming.
Overview
The Instituto Politécnico de Bragança is offering a research grant within the scope of Project UID/00690/2025, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The successful candidate will investigate phenolic extracts from natural origins using green extraction methods, assessing their chemical composition, safety, and biological properties for human health applications. The work involves laboratory extraction, purification, chromatographic and spectrophotometric analysis, toxicity evaluation, and data processing using R. The position offers an initial 3-month term with the possibility of renewal up to a maximum of 6 months total.
What you'll do
- Establish green extraction processes for phenolic compounds from natural products.
- Apply purification procedures to extracts and isolate individual compounds.
- Evaluate extracts for toxicity, biological properties, and chemical or instrumental characteristics.
- Develop R code for data processing and analysis.
- Support the dissemination and exploitation of project results.
