PhD Fellowship in Learning while Searching in Symbolic Planners
Join an international PhD programme to advance AI symbolic planning through adaptive heuristic functions.
Best for:Best for computer science graduates with a strong interest in AI planning, heuristic search, and machine learning.
Overview
The Czech Technical University in Prague is recruiting a PhD student for the PICTUS Fellowship Programme to work on symbolic search in large state spaces. The project focuses on developing adaptive heuristic functions for AI planners that learn from visited states during the search process, aiming to improve generalization and performance. The successful candidate will work within the Department of Computer Science and participate in a secondment at Linköping University. This is a 48-month full-time position that requires the candidate to develop their own research proposal based on the provided project topics.
What you'll do
- Conduct original research on adaptive heuristic functions for symbolic planners.
- Develop and implement algorithms to improve search efficiency in large state spaces.
- Collaborate with international partners during a research secondment at Linköping University.
- Prepare and publish research findings in high-impact academic venues.
- Participate in the PICTUS PhD programme coursework and training activities.
- Contribute to the development of planning systems that outperform state-of-the-art benchmarks.
