University Assistant Predoctoral - Project H4DES
Explore haptic 4D printing and data visualization in a multidisciplinary PhD position at the University of Vienna.
Best for:Best for computer science graduates with an interest in human-computer interaction, digital fabrication, and data visualization.
Overview
The University of Vienna invites applications for a predoctoral university assistant position within the H4DES project at the Faculty of Computer Science. Working in the Research Group Visualization and Data Analysis, the successful candidate will investigate how state-of-the-art 3D printing technologies can enhance human data understanding through haptic information encoding. The role involves developing algorithms for object behavior, evaluating multimodal perception, and designing techniques to sense user interaction with elastic objects. The researcher will pursue a PhD, join the Doctoral School of Computer Science, and collaborate with an international, interdisciplinary team across the University of Vienna and TU Wien.
What you'll do
- Develop algorithms to encode data into object behavior using advanced 3D printing technologies.
- Design and execute methods to evaluate multimodal perception combining visual and haptic senses.
- Build techniques to measure user interaction and deformation of elastic objects in VR simulations.
- Conduct independent research toward the completion of a doctoral dissertation within a fixed contract period.
- Contribute to administrative and organizational tasks within the research group and department.
- Participate in academic writing, publication processes, and present research findings at scientific venues.
