PhD Position in Hematopoiesis and Stem Cell Biology
Investigate how hematopoietic stem cell heterogeneity and aging drive leukemia development.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in molecular biology or bioinformatics with hands-on experimental experience in stem cell research or hematology.
Overview
This four-year PhD position is offered by the Division of Clinical Immunology within the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. Under the supervision of experienced researchers, the doctoral student will investigate how hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) heterogeneity and aging influence the characteristics of leukemic stem cells, specifically focusing on BCR-ABL1–driven leukemias. The project combines experimental approaches, such as flow cytometry and mouse models, with advanced single-cell sequencing and bioinformatics analyses. The successful candidate will design and execute experiments, analyze complex datasets, and actively engage in the institute's international scientific environment.
What you'll do
- Design and execute experimental assays using mouse models and in vitro/in vivo systems.
- Perform advanced flow cytometry and cell sorting procedures.
- Apply single-cell sequencing and omics technologies to analyze cellular mechanisms.
- Conduct bioinformatics analyses to process and interpret high-throughput genomic data.
- Analyze experimental data and present findings within the research group and at scientific meetings.
- Contribute to collaborative research projects and participate in elective doctoral courses.
