Overview

This PhD position at ETH Zurich focuses on advancing spectral submanifold (SSM) methods to create efficient, interpretable alternatives to black-box neural network models for complex physical systems. The research will explore nonlinear modeling and control approaches across domains such as fluid-structure interactions, soft robotics, and turbulent flows. The successful candidate will contribute to theoretical developments while applying these methods to real-world problems, with flexibility to align the project with their background in either mechanical engineering or applied mathematics. The position is based in Zurich, offering a collaborative environment at the intersection of mathematics and engineering.
