Overview

The MERIT (Metabolic Reprogramming in viral pathogenesis: from Infection to Therapeutic innovations) training programme invites applications for 15 PhD positions across multiple European academic institutions and partner organizations. Coordinated by Amsterdam UMC, the network focuses on understanding how viruses affect the human body by examining host metabolism, viral pathogenesis, and long-term consequences of infection. Researchers will utilize innovative methodologies including human organoids, spatial and integrative omics, and advanced microscopy. Selected candidates will participate in a structured, multidisciplinary doctoral training framework designed to advance therapeutic innovations and fundamental virology.
