2 PhD positions within the MSCA Doctoral Network AGRIPOLYS
Two Marie Skłodowska-Curie PhD positions in polymer science and sustainable agriculture at the University of Padova.
Best for:Best for master's graduates in chemistry or materials science with a strong background in organic and polymer synthesis.
Overview
The MOC Lab at the Department of Chemical Sciences, University of Padova, is seeking two doctoral candidates to join the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network 'AGRIPOLYS'. The research focuses on developing advanced functional and biodegradable polymeric materials to enable sustainable agricultural technologies, such as micro-organism stabilization or biological delivery systems in plants. Candidates will engage in experimental organic and polymer chemistry, including monomer design, controlled polymerization, and macromolecular engineering. The successful applicants will benefit from an international training network integrating leading academic and industrial partners across Europe.
What you'll do
- Design and synthesize novel monomers and functional, biodegradable poly(meth)acrylates or water-soluble polymer architectures.
- Perform controlled polymerization and macromolecular engineering to tailor polymer composition and degradation profiles.
- Conduct advanced polymer characterization using analytical and spectroscopic techniques.
- Investigate polymer interactions with biological systems, including the stabilization of beneficial microorganisms or delivery of nucleic acids in plants.
- Collaborate with international academic and industrial partners within the AGRIPOLYS network.
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentation at international conferences.
