Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Computational Microbiomics
Develop cutting-edge bioinformatics and statistical methods to model soil microbiome diversity using long-read metagenomics and machine learning.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a PhD in bioinformatics, mathematics, statistics, or a related field, strong programming skills in R/Python, and expertise in statistical modeling and bioinformatics pipelines.
Overview
This postdoctoral position at the Earlham Institute in Norwich, UK, focuses on advancing computational and mathematical techniques to study the soil microbiome. The role involves creating bioinformatics pipelines to integrate long-read metagenomes with metatranscriptomes, as well as designing novel statistical models to resolve microbial strain diversity. The successful candidate will contribute to predictive models of soil and rhizosphere microbiomes, leveraging probabilistic graphical models and machine learning. The position is based in the High-Resolution Microbiomics group led by Dr Quince, offering a collaborative environment at the forefront of microbiome research.
