Researcher in Molecular Subtypes and Treatment Response in Alzheimer’s Disease
Explore personalized Alzheimer’s treatment strategies by investigating molecular subtypes and their response to anti-amyloid therapies.
Best for:Best for medical doctors or clinical researchers with a strong interest in translational neuroscience, biomarker analysis, and personalized medicine.
Overview
This PhD position at Amsterdam UMC focuses on uncovering how distinct molecular subtypes of Alzheimer’s disease respond to anti-amyloid treatments. The project aims to refine personalized treatment approaches by mapping biological characteristics of these subtypes and correlating them with clinical outcomes. The successful candidate will conduct patient-centered clinical research, integrating cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers, neuropsychological data, and imaging studies (MRI/PET scans). The work will contribute to advancing precision medicine in Alzheimer’s care by identifying which treatments are most effective for specific patient profiles.
What you'll do
- Collect cerebrospinal fluid and blood samples from Alzheimer’s patients undergoing anti-amyloid therapy.
- Conduct and coordinate MRI and PET scans for participants in the study.
- Integrate and analyze clinical, neuropsychological, and biomarker data to identify molecular subtype patterns.
- Develop and implement research protocols under supervision, ensuring adherence to ethical and scientific standards.
- Publish findings in international scientific journals as part of the PhD dissertation process.
- Present research results at national and international conferences and meetings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neurologists, neuropsychologists, and clinical chemists.
