Prize Fellow in Water Sensing Platforms
Develop cutting-edge water/wastewater sensing systems for public health protection in an interdisciplinary research environment.
Best for:Best for interdisciplinary researchers with expertise in water/wastewater sensing, sensor development, and IoT, seeking to bridge engineering, chemistry, and public health.
Overview
This Prize Fellow position at the University of Bath focuses on advancing water and wastewater sensing technologies within the Centre of Excellence in Water-Based Early-Warning Systems for Health Protection (CWBE). The role involves establishing an independent research programme, teaching sensing systems, and contributing to the Centre’s leadership and management. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers, chemists, biologists, and social scientists to develop innovative solutions for early warning of public health threats. The position offers a pathway to a Lectureship upon successful completion of the fixed-term contract.
What you'll do
- Develop an internationally leading independent research programme focused on water/wastewater sensing systems.
- Teach aspects of sensing systems in lectures and laboratory classes, maintaining high teaching standards and an inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, chemists, biologists, and social scientists to advance public health protection technologies.
- Contribute to the administration, leadership, and management of the Department and Centre’s activities at an appropriate level.
- Expand the Centre’s capabilities in water/wastewater sensing platforms and contribute to the Urban Living Lab facility.
- Engage with regional and national collaborators to co-produce a practical roadmap for a UK early-warning system.
- Demonstrate potential to secure significant funding from UK and international sources and produce high-quality publications.
