Postdoctoral Researcher in Biophysics
Join Kanazawa University to investigate nanoscale molecular dynamics using high-speed atomic force microscopy.
Best for:Best for biophysicists and molecular biologists with a strong background in single-molecule imaging or protein biochemistry.
Overview
Kanazawa University's Nano Life Science Institute (NanoLSI) invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher position in biophysics. Working in the Shibata Laboratory, the successful candidate will engage in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of nanometrology and life sciences. The role primarily involves single-molecule imaging of proteins and nucleic acids utilizing high-speed atomic force microscopy (HS-AFM), alongside the development of novel application techniques and recombinant protein preparation. Applicants are expected to conduct independent research, collaborate with internal life science researchers, and disseminate their findings through academic publications and outreach activities.
What you'll do
- Perform single-molecule imaging of proteins and nucleic acids using high-speed atomic force microscopy.
- Develop novel applied technologies for high-speed AFM observations, such as specialized substrates to visualize enzymatic reactions.
- Express and purify recombinant proteins to support experimental workflows.
- Collaborate with internal life science researchers on interdisciplinary projects.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present outcomes at scientific conferences.
- Engage in science outreach activities and communicate research results to the broader public.
