Doctoral Researcher in Energy and Green House Gas Modelling
Develop a spatial-temporal greenhouse gas model for integration into sector-coupled energy systems.
Best for:Best for engineers or scientists with strong Python skills and an interest in energy systems and climate modeling.
Overview
The University of Luxembourg is seeking a motivated doctoral researcher to join the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine. The successful candidate will design and code a generalized greenhouse gas (GHG) module to be integrated with the UCB-SEnMod energy model. This project involves extracting literature-based workflows, performing scenario analysis, and ensuring the final module is open-source. The position is part of a cotutelle arrangement between the University of Luxembourg and Trier University of Applied Sciences.
What you'll do
- Architect, design, and implement a GHG module for integration with the UCB-SEnMod energy model.
- Conduct literature reviews to identify necessary modeling workflows and data requirements.
- Utilize the combined model to simulate and design scenarios for GHG emission reduction.
- Maintain rigorous version control and documentation for all models and research outputs.
- Prepare the developed module for open-source release.
- Draft manuscripts, reports, and present research findings at international conferences.
- Collaborate with internal teams at the Luxembourg Centre for Socio-Environmental Systems and external partners.
