Best for:Best for researchers with a background in environmental microbiology, microbial cultivation, and gas chromatography seeking a fixed-term academic fellowship.
Overview
The University of Warwick's School of Life Sciences is seeking a full-time Research Fellow for a NERC-funded project examining microbial interactions and soil nitrogen cycling. The successful candidate will investigate how cooperation between ammonia-oxidizing and denitrifying microorganisms influences nitrous oxide emissions. Responsibilities include conducting independent laboratory experiments, managing cultivation tasks, and analyzing gas chromatography data. Applicants should hold a PhD in environmental or molecular microbiology and demonstrate strong independent research capabilities.
What you'll do
- Design and execute experiments investigating interactions between ammonia-oxidizing and denitrifying microorganisms
- Perform microbial cultivation and gas chromatography measurements to track nitrous oxide flux
- Analyze complex datasets regarding soil nitrogen cycling and nutrient exchange
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Manage daily laboratory operations and maintain high standards of experimental independence
