Postdoctoral Research Associate in Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience
Join a Wellcome Trust-funded project investigating audiovisual speech processing in cochlear implant users using EEG and HD-DOT.
Best for:Postdoctoral researchers with expertise in neuroimaging (EEG/fNIRS/DOT) and a strong interest in auditory cognitive neuroscience or clinical speech populations.
Overview
The Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit at the University of Cambridge is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a project investigating the neural mechanisms of audiovisual speech processing in adult cochlear implant (CI) users. Working under the leadership of Dr. Guangting Mai, the successful candidate will conduct cross-sectional and longitudinal experiments to understand how visual speech cues influence auditory processing and speech comprehension. The research utilizes advanced neuroimaging techniques, including electroencephalography (EEG) and high-density diffuse optical tomography (HD-DOT). This role offers the opportunity to contribute to clinical strategies for CI rehabilitation and potential neuromodulation guidance. Applicants will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts in cognitive neuroscience and clinical audiology.
What you'll do
- Design and execute cross-sectional and longitudinal experiments involving adult cochlear implant users.
- Perform sophisticated brain imaging data collection using EEG and high-density diffuse optical tomography (HD-DOT).
- Analyze complex neuroimaging datasets using programming languages such as Matlab or Python.
- Collaborate with clinical and academic partners to translate research findings into clinical rehabilitation strategies.
- Prepare research findings for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and presentation at academic conferences.
- Contribute to the administrative and operational requirements of the research project.
