Overview

This PhD studentship, hosted by the University of Bath's NIHR Mental Health Research Group, explores the physiological and psychological mechanisms of stress reactivity in young people aged 16-25. The project aims to address current limitations in measuring stress by utilizing the U-RHYTHM wearable device for ambulatory cortisol monitoring alongside experience sampling methods. The successful candidate will work to establish robust measurement standards and pilot potential interventions, such as mindfulness or exercise, to mitigate dysregulated stress responses. The role involves collaboration across the University of Bath, University of Bristol, and University of Exeter. Applicants will contribute to a broader research agenda focused on improving outcomes for youth exposed to childhood adversity.
