Doctoral Student in Condensed Matter Theory
Explore quantum many-body physics using analytical and numerical approaches at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Best for:Best for physics graduates with a strong background in theoretical condensed matter, quantum mechanics, and field-theoretical methods.
Overview
The KTH Royal Institute of Technology is offering a fully funded doctoral student position in theoretical condensed matter physics within the School of Engineering Sciences. The research focuses on quantum many-body physics, employing analytical field-theoretical methods and complementary numerical approaches to investigate interacting quantum systems in and out of equilibrium. Current group interests include quantum chaos and thermalization, disordered systems, nonequilibrium dynamics, and superconductivity. The successful candidate will conduct rigorous research, collaborate with team members, and contribute to the academic environment while pursuing a doctoral degree.
What you'll do
- Conduct theoretical research on quantum many-body physics using analytical and field-theoretical methods
- Apply numerical approaches to complement analytical investigations of interacting quantum systems
- Study quantum systems both in and out of equilibrium, including quantum chaos, thermalization, and superconductivity
- Collaborate with other researchers within the group and department on complex theoretical problems
- Perform limited departmental tasks such as teaching and administration up to a maximum of 20% of the role
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present results at conferences
