PhD in Dynamic Metasurfaces for Spacetime-Engineered Light
Develop advanced dynamic metasurfaces for ultrafast spatiotemporal modulation and nonreciprocal light-matter interactions.
Best for:Best for optics and photonics engineers with a strong background in electromagnetics, simulation, and experimental characterization.
Overview
Eindhoven University of Technology offers a fully funded four-year PhD position focusing on dynamic metasurfaces and spacetime-engineered light within the SPARK Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network. The candidate will engage in theoretical modeling, numerical simulation, and experimental characterization of anisotropic metasurfaces with epsilon-near-zero behavior. The role includes collaborative secondments at the University of Navarra in Spain and UltraFast Innovations in Germany. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to high-impact research, participate in international consortium activities, and fulfill limited teaching duties.
What you'll do
- Develop theoretical models and perform numerical simulations of anisotropic metasurfaces with epsilon-near-zero behavior.
- Fabricate and realize dynamically modulated metasurface structures.
- Evaluate the ultrafast optical response of metasurfaces through advanced experimental characterization.
- Collaborate across a multidisciplinary consortium encompassing theory, fabrication, and experimental work.
- Complete secondments at partner institutions including a 6-month stay in Spain and a 3-month stay in Germany.
- Engage in teaching tasks and student coaching for up to 10% to 15% of the working time.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present outcomes at international conferences.
