Overview

This PhD project at the University of Nottingham focuses on developing robust risk assessment and modelling techniques for robotic-based maintenance and decommissioning in nuclear fusion plants. Supervised by Rasa Remenyte-Prescott within the Faculty of Engineering, the research addresses system failure modes, mission success factors, and process recovery under uncertainty. The successful candidate will contribute to shaping safe, sustainable future energy solutions by supporting remote operations for major international facilities. Applicants are expected to hold a first-class degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline, ideally at the master's level.
