Research Fellow in Mass Spectrometry
Contribute to cutting-edge structural mass spectrometry research investigating cyclic antimicrobial peptide-lipid interactions.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers in mass spectrometry, biochemistry, or biophysics with expertise in structural biology and biomolecular interactions.
Overview
University College London is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join a multidisciplinary project focusing on cyclic antimicrobial peptide-lipid interactions at molecular resolution. Operating within the Mass Spectrometry Science Technology Platform and collaborating with the Department of Chemistry, the appointee will advance structural mass spectrometry methodologies such as cross-linking mass spectrometry. The role involves working closely with a collaborative team of researchers across multiple international partner institutions to combat multidrug-resistant bacteria. Candidates are expected to lead experimental workflows, develop computational models, and contribute actively to the academic community.
What you'll do
- Lead the development and application of advanced structural mass spectrometry approaches and complementary biophysical techniques.
- Investigate cyclic antimicrobial peptide-lipid interactions using model lipid bilayers.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of computational models representing peptide-lipid complexes.
- Collaborate closely with internal team members, including a Research Fellow in Chemical Biology and a PhD student.
- Engage with external academic collaborators across multiple international partner institutions spanning biophysics, microbiology, and lipid synthesis.
- Support student supervision, participate in teaching and public outreach initiatives, and ensure safe laboratory operations.
