Topologically Isolated Mode Acoustic Resonators
Develop next-generation high quality factor acoustic resonators using topological acoustics and piezoelectric microstructures.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in microfabrication, finite element simulation, and acoustics or photonics.
Overview
This PhD position at Université Franche-Comté Besançon, in collaboration with CEA Leti, focuses on exploiting topologically protected modes in piezoelectric microstructures to create high quality factor resonators for advanced oscillators and filters. The successful candidate will model and design structures using finite element simulations, collaborate with cleanroom process teams to fabricate demonstrators, and perform experimental measurements. The project offers a unique opportunity to work within an international network involving leading academic and industrial partners. Applicants are expected to hold a relevant master's degree and demonstrate strong capabilities in numerical modeling and experimental characterization.
What you'll do
- Model and design structures supporting topologically protected modes using finite element simulations and simplified numerical approaches
- Collaborate with process integration teams in the CEA Leti cleanrooms to oversee the fabrication of device demonstrators
- Perform precise experimental measurements and characterizations of the developed acoustic resonators
- Contribute to an international collaborative research framework alongside academic and industrial partners
- Disseminate research findings through scientific publications and conference presentations
