MSc in Micro- and Nanotechnology
Interdisciplinary master’s programme blending micro/nanotechnology fundamentals with industry applications and entrepreneurship skills.
Best for:Best for engineering or natural sciences graduates with a strong physics background seeking hands-on technical training and industry exposure in micro/nanotechnology.
Overview
The Master of Science in Micro- and Nanotechnology at Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences offers a rigorous, interdisciplinary curriculum combining core quantum physics, materials science, and specialized modules in micro/nanotechnology applications. Students engage in hands-on lab work, project studies, and thesis research—often in collaboration with German companies—while developing professional competencies like knowledge management and startup techniques. The programme emphasizes internationalization through English-taught courses and partnerships with global research institutions. Graduates are prepared for careers in industry or further academic study, with German language skills recommended for broader opportunities. Both full-time (3 semesters) and part-time (6 semesters) study tracks are available.
What you'll do
- Develop and apply theoretical knowledge in quantum physics, materials science, and micro/nanotechnology through specialized courses and lab work.
- Conduct project-based research in collaboration with German companies or research institutions, often involving 3–6 months of industry placement.
- Write and defend a Master’s thesis in either English or German, addressing industry-relevant or academic research questions.
- Participate in interdisciplinary modules covering professional skills like knowledge management, entrepreneurship, and startup techniques.
- Present research findings in English during colloquia and contribute to internationalized coursework and projects.
- Engage in hands-on lab classes, including prerequisite microtechnology labs before advancing to nanotechnology labs.
