The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) - BarcelonaTECH invites applications for a predoctoral research position within the Department of Computer Architecture. The successful candidate will focus on enhancing computing system architectures with a specific emphasis on graphics processors. Responsibilities include designing and evaluating novel architectural proposals, analyzing performance and energy metrics, and disseminating findings through academic publications. This is a temporary, full-time training appointment designed for early-stage researchers pursuing a doctoral degree.
What you'll do
- Design, model, and evaluate novel architectural solutions for graphics processors
- Characterize existing systems regarding performance and energy efficiency
- Extend and refine software and hardware evaluation tools
- Document research outcomes and present findings at academic venues
- Draft and publish peer-reviewed papers in international conferences and journals
Requirements
Degree required: Master Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Degree offered: PhD
Language: Spanish (Good proficiency required); English proficiency for academic publication
Instruction: Spanish and English
- Background in computer architecture and computer systems
- Experience with system modeling and performance evaluation
- Proficiency in architectural simulation tools
- Analytical skills for energy and performance characterization
- Must hold a master's degree or equivalent
- Must have between 1 and 4 years of research experience
- Classified as a First Stage Researcher (R1)
