Health Data Scientist
Develop and apply AI models to electronic health records and retinal imaging to predict diabetes outcomes and biological ageing.
Best for:Best for data scientists with a strong background in machine learning, healthcare data curation, and Python-based predictive modeling.
Overview
The University of Dundee is seeking two health data scientists to join the interdisciplinary research groups of Pearson and Trucco for up to 24 months. The successful candidates will develop and apply machine learning and AI methods to electronic patient records, retinal images, and molecular data to investigate biological ageing and health outcomes in diabetes patients. Working in collaboration with Eli Lilly, the role involves handling longitudinal datasets spanning over 25 years and assessing whether medications alter biological ageing rates. Candidates are expected to manage health data securely, build robust prediction models, and publish reproducible code.
What you'll do
- Wrangle and curate complex electronic health record data alongside retinal and medical imaging data.
- Develop, optimize, and validate statistical and machine learning models for biological ageing and health outcomes.
- Perform longitudinal data modeling on multi-decade patient follow-up datasets.
- Ensure all software code is fully annotated, version-controlled, and published in public repositories such as GitHub.
- Write scientific reports and deliver presentations to academic stakeholders and industrial collaborators like Eli Lilly.
