Overview
The Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) is seeking a PhD Research Fellow to join the interdisciplinary ThermRisk project. This role focuses on human thermal and cardiovascular physiology, specifically collecting physiological data to inform the development of a computational digital twin. The successful candidate will work within the Department of Health and Function and collaborate closely with a parallel PhD fellow specializing in computational thermal physics. The position is a three-year fixed-term appointment based at the Bergen campus, requiring the candidate to enroll in the PhD programme in Health, Function and Participation.
What you'll do
- Recruit study participants and manage data collection processes.
- Plan and execute physiological testing in the Human Health and Performance Laboratory.
- Perform measurements including VO2max, blood pressure, core/skin temperature, and respiratory parameters.
- Conduct statistical analysis of quantitative physiological data.
- Collaborate with a parallel PhD fellow to integrate experimental data into a computational digital twin.
- Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed scientific publications and conference presentations.
- Complete a minimum of three first-author publications to fulfill thesis requirements.
