Overview

This doctoral position at Tampere University focuses on advancing photoacoustic measurement technology for aerosol and black carbon research. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a new PAAS instrument version, refine calibration routines, and explore novel applications in atmospheric science. The project aligns with EU Directive 2024/2881 on ambient air quality, addressing the need for accurate, traceable, and comparable optical measurements of equivalent black carbon (eBC). The work combines hands-on instrumentation, laboratory experiments, data analysis, and programming, offering opportunities to shape independent research directions in sub-Arctic and Arctic atmospheric studies.
