Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Epigenetics and Gene Regulation
Investigate non-canonical transcription regulation through DNA methylation using functional genomics and human stem cell models.
Best for:Best for molecular biologists and computational researchers with strong expertise in epigenomics, functional genomics assays, or stem cell models.
Overview
The University of Edinburgh's Institute of Genetics and Cancer is seeking a motivated postdoctoral research associate to join Dr Duncan Sproul's laboratory. This fixed-term position focuses on understanding how DNA methylation within gene bodies regulates transcription using functional genomics assays and synthetic approaches. Working closely within an interdisciplinary team alongside collaborating groups in Edinburgh and Exeter, the successful candidate will conduct advanced sequencing assays and human embryonic stem cell experiments. The role offers an opportunity to drive impactful research toward high-profile publications in the fields of epigenomics and gene regulation.
What you'll do
- Design and execute functional genomics assays such as TT-seq, CUT&RUN, and Nanopore sequencing.
- Utilize human embryonic stem cell models and synthetic landing-pad approaches to study transcriptional regulation.
- Analyze complex sequencing and molecular biology data using computational data analysis approaches.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across the Universities of Edinburgh and Exeter.
- Contribute to drafting manuscripts and driving research projects toward publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Present research findings at group meetings, collaborative workshops, and scientific conferences.
