Postdoctoral Research Associate in Solid-State Batteries
Join an Innovate UK-funded project to advance solid-state battery technology under the supervision of Prof. Mauro Pasta at the University of Oxford.
Best for:Best for postdoctoral researchers with a PhD in Materials Science or Chemistry and hands-on experience in solid-state battery materials, electrochemistry, and advanced characterisation techniques.
Overview
This postdoctoral position at the University of Oxford’s Department of Materials focuses on cutting-edge research in solid-state batteries as part of the Innovate UK-funded CoRe-SoLiS project. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of next-generation battery materials, leveraging expertise in mechanical and microstructural characterisation, electrochemistry, and advanced characterisation techniques. The role demands strong research independence, collaborative skills, and a proven track record in battery-related fields. The position is fixed-term until May 30, 2029, and offers a full-time opportunity to work in a dynamic academic environment.
What you'll do
- Conduct advanced research on solid-state battery materials, focusing on mechanical and microstructural characterisation of ceramic materials.
- Develop and apply techniques such as solid-state NMR, focused ion beam (FIB) methods, and synchrotron-based characterisation to study battery materials.
- Perform electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and other solid-state electrochemistry experiments.
- Manage independent research projects and administrative tasks while collaborating with colleagues in a fast-paced academic environment.
- Present research findings at meetings, write publications, and contribute to research proposals.
- Work within established research programmes to identify research objectives and meet deadlines.
