Overview

This postdoctoral position at the University of Oxford focuses on applying quantitative spatial analysis methods to multiplex imaging and spatial transcriptomics datasets in cancer immunology. The successful candidate will collaborate across the Mathematical Institute, Oxford Centre for Immuno-Oncology, and The Francis Crick Institute to investigate how tumour immune microenvironments regulate anti-tumour responses. The project leverages the MuSpAn framework and Python-based workflows to analyse existing datasets from oesophageal and colorectal cancer cohorts, with a specific emphasis on T cell organisation and therapeutic outcomes. The role is ideal for researchers with a strong background in computational biology, mathematical modelling, and cancer immunology, seeking to contribute to translational cancer research.

What you'll do

  • Develop and apply advanced mathematical and computational methods to analyse multiplex imaging and spatial transcriptomics datasets.
  • Investigate the spatial organisation of precursor-exhausted T cells and regulatory T cells within tumour immune microenvironments.
  • Extend analyses to additional patient cohorts and prepare findings for publication and presentation.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers from the Mathematical Institute, Oxford Centre for Immuno-Oncology, and The Francis Crick Institute.
  • Apply and further develop quantitative spatial analysis methods using the MuSpAn framework and Python-based workflows.
  • Contribute to understanding how spatially structured immune microenvironments respond to therapy.
