Overview

The PROMISE project at the University of the Basque Country focuses on advancing laser-based directed energy deposition for manufacturing and repairing metallic components in space propulsion systems. The selected researcher will develop and optimize additive manufacturing processes for refractory and thermally resistant alloys. The work integrates experimental characterization, numerical simulation, digital twins, and real-time process monitoring to ensure traceability and digital certification. Ultimately, the research culminates in the fabrication and validation of a full-scale thrust nozzle demonstrator, contributing to Europe's aerospace sector.
