PhD Position in Computational Neuroscience and Systems Biology
Decode brain-wide neural dynamics underlying survival behaviors using machine learning and dynamical systems.
Best for:Best for quantitative graduates with strong Python/MATLAB skills and an interest in neural data analysis and machine learning.
Overview
The Stagkourakis Lab at Karolinska Institutet and SciLifeLab in Stockholm is seeking a motivated PhD student in computational neuroscience. The project focuses on analyzing and modeling large-scale neural population recordings acquired during naturalistic behaviors in freely moving animals. The successful candidate will integrate graph-theoretic, dynamical systems, and machine learning approaches to understand how distributed neural ensembles encode internal states and drive survival behaviors. The position provides a four-year full-time doctoral studentship within a collaborative and cutting-edge research environment.
What you'll do
- Analyze and model large-scale neural population recordings from freely moving animals.
- Develop analytical tools and computational models using machine learning and graph theory.
- Investigate how distributed neural ensembles encode internal states and drive instinctual behaviors.
- Collaborate with experimental researchers to integrate multimodal datasets.
- Contribute to high-impact scientific publications and present findings at conferences.
