Development of Instrumentation for High-Energy, High-Flux Beam Energy Distributions
PhD position focused on advancing instrumentation for precise energy characterization of high-energy photon beams in radiotherapy and radiation protection.
Best for:Best for candidates with a strong background in physical measurements, instrumentation, or related engineering fields, interested in radiation protection and high-energy physics applications.
Overview
This PhD project at Université Paris-Saclay GS Physique, conducted in collaboration with CEA LIST, aims to develop innovative instrumentation for characterizing the energy distribution of high-energy, high-flux photon beams generated by linear accelerators (LINACs). The research addresses critical challenges in radiotherapy, nuclear industry applications, and radiation protection by improving the understanding of photon energy spectra. The project seeks to validate spectral calculations, enhance dosimetric standards, and contribute to metrological advancements in high-energy calibration. Successful candidates will contribute to both scientific progress and industrial applications, including metrology, radiation-resistant instrumentation, and algorithm development for high-energy photon domains.
What you'll do
- Develop advanced instrumentation for precise measurement of photon energy distributions in high-energy beams.
- Conduct experimental validation of spectral calculations for LINAC-generated beams used in radiotherapy.
- Contribute to the evolution of dosimetric standards for high-energy calibration (E > 1.3 MeV).
- Design and implement spectrum correction algorithms tailored for high-energy photon domains.
- Collaborate with industrial partners to deploy radiation-resistant instrumentation in highly irradiating environments.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at international conferences.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team involving physicists, engineers, and metrologists.
