Cell Assay Senior Scientist - Blue Sky Kinases
Join an interdisciplinary team investigating the human protein kinome using cutting-edge cellular assays.
Best for:Best for cell biologists and molecular researchers with extensive experience in protein kinases, cell culture, and high-throughput assay development.
Overview
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking an experienced Cell Assay Senior Scientist to join the Blue Sky Initiative 'Seeing the Invisible in Protein Kinases' within the Department of Structural Biology. The successful candidate will leverage molecular biology, biochemistry, and advanced cell culture expertise to translate structural insights of protein kinases into functional cellular effects. Working within a multidisciplinary team supported by major institutional funding, the role involves optimizing diverse cell-based assays to validate structural findings and discover novel kinase-mediated biology. Candidates are expected to design experimental strategies, troubleshoot assays, and analyze complex datasets to advance therapeutic discovery.
What you'll do
- Investigate kinase-mediated signaling pathways, target proteins, and phosphorylation-dependent cellular outcomes for assigned projects
- Determine appropriate cellular models and assays to evaluate structure-guided perturbations in kinase regulation and function
- Design and implement robust cell-based assays measuring protein phosphorylation, interactions, localization, RNA abundance, and ubiquitination
- Develop and execute cell phenotypic assays covering cell viability, apoptosis, autophagy, migration, and differentiation
- Optimize and troubleshoot experimental workflows for diverse cell lines and primary cells
- Perform statistical evaluations and data analyses using graphing software or R scripts
- Interpret and communicate assay results effectively within the internal team and with external collaborators
