PhD Position in Quantum Algorithms for Strongly Correlated Systems
Explore numerical algorithms for quantum systems and strongly correlated materials under ERC Advanced Quantum Algorithms.
Best for:Best for master’s graduates in physics or computational science with strong mathematical and programming skills, interested in quantum mechanics and numerical simulations.
Overview
This PhD position at the University of Warsaw’s Institute of Theoretical Physics offers research into numerical algorithms for quantum systems, focusing on quantum impurities and real materials. The project, funded under the ERC Advanced Quantum Algorithms, targets strongly correlated quantum systems. Candidates will contribute to computational physics and quantum mechanics, working within the Gull group. The role is part-time (20 hours/week) and aims to advance theoretical and computational approaches in quantum simulations.
What you'll do
- Develop and implement numerical algorithms for simulating quantum systems, particularly those involving strongly correlated electrons.
- Conduct research on quantum impurities and real materials systems to advance theoretical understanding and computational modeling.
- Collaborate with the Gull group to contribute to the ERC Advanced Quantum Algorithms project.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at international conferences.
- Participate in academic seminars and workshops to disseminate research outcomes.
