PhD Position in High-Entropy Oxide Nanoparticles for Photocatalysis
Develop innovative synthesis methods for high-entropy oxide nanoparticles to advance next-generation photocatalytic water treatment.
Best for:Best for chemistry or materials science graduates with hands-on experience in inorganic nanoparticle synthesis and advanced characterization techniques.
Overview
This PhD position at the Laboratoire des Sciences des Procédés et des Matériaux (LSPM) focuses on synthesizing and characterizing high-entropy oxide (HEO) nanoparticles for photocatalytic water purification. The project, funded by the ANR JCJC NHEOCAT programme, aims to create controllable, high-performance photocatalysts for environmental applications. The successful candidate will work on liquid-phase synthesis, advanced structural characterization (including synchrotron techniques), and evaluating photocatalytic performance under visible light. The research bridges fundamental materials science with applied environmental solutions, contributing to sustainable energy and pollution control.
What you'll do
- Develop innovative liquid-phase synthesis routes for high-entropy oxide nanoparticles with controlled composition and structure.
- Characterize nanoparticle morphology, crystallinity, and local structure using advanced techniques (XRD, TEM, Raman spectroscopy, synchrotron X-ray absorption).
- Evaluate photocatalytic performance by degrading organic pollutants under visible light irradiation.
- Analyze structure-property relationships to optimize photocatalytic efficiency.
- Collaborate with synchrotron facilities (e.g., SOLEIL) for in-situ multi-technique experiments.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at international conferences.
