Overview

The Le Pen Lab at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join research on innate immunity to RNA viruses. Funded by the NIH Director's New Innovator Award (DP2), the project explores how cells detect viruses, control replication, and resolve inflammation in irreplaceable cell types such as neurons and pancreatic B cells. The successful candidate will drive a substantial portion of this program, combining human genetics, functional screening, and cell biology. Fellows will benefit from a collaborative academic environment on the Harvard medical campus with access to advanced facilities.

What you'll do

  • Design and execute experimental studies investigating cell-intrinsic mechanisms of innate immunity against RNA viruses
  • Combine human genetics, functional screening, and cellular biology approaches to uncouple wanted and unwanted effects of interferons
  • Analyze complex biological datasets and interpret findings in the context of viral replication and inflammatory resolution
  • Contribute to the setup, direction, and scientific culture of a newly established research laboratory
  • Prepare research findings for peer-reviewed publication and present outcomes at scientific conferences
  • Mentor junior lab members and participate in collaborative grant-writing and proposal development
