Research Engineer in Immunology and Virology
Contribute to developing an ex vivo porcine lymph node model for predictive vaccine evaluation at INRAE.
Best for:Best for research engineers with strong backgrounds in immunology, cell culture, and flow cytometry looking to contribute to innovative vaccine evaluation models.
Overview
INRAE is seeking a research engineer to join the Immunocare team within the BIOEPAR joint research unit in Nantes, France. The successful candidate will work on the FluOrganoVax project, focusing on establishing and optimizing an ex vivo porcine lymph node model to assess vaccine formulations without relying on animal experimentation. Responsibilities include conducting cell culture, multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISpot assays, virus neutralization assays, and analyzing experimental data in collaboration with academic and industrial partners. Applicants should hold a Master's degree, engineering degree, or PhD in biology, immunology, virology, or a related discipline, alongside practical laboratory experience.
What you'll do
- Develop, establish, and optimize an ex vivo porcine lymph node model and culture conditions
- Standardize experimental protocols for biological assays and sample handling
- Characterize cellular composition and immune responses using flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and ELISpot assays
- Perform ELISA measurements for antibodies and cytokines alongside virus neutralization assays
- Analyze experimental data using statistical methods and present findings in written reports and scientific presentations
- Comply with laboratory hygiene, safety, and quality procedures within a BSL-2 environment
- Contribute to day-to-day laboratory organization and potentially supervise Master's students
